Harbury Heritage Medal
In 2022, the Society introduced a new initiative, the Harbury Society Heritage Medal.
This medal is awarded to support the Harbury Society’s core objective which is to promote the general improvement of village life; particularly in relation to its environmental and conservation heritage.
The criteria upon which the medal is awarded includes three key aspects of the above:
• Retaining and reinvigorating significant aspects of the village’s existing heritage
• New facilities or features which will improve the environment of the village
• Activities and actions which are judged to sustain the village by giving a sense of well-being to its inhabitants
It seemed right that Linda Ridgley, as one of the leading villagers in the campaign to save the Manor House, should be the first recipient.
Iain and Katherine Geddes received the second medal for purchasing Church Paddock to prevent development of the site.
Frances and Brendan Watts, the current owners of the Manor House, were presented with a medal for their part in the ongoing preservation of the property.
On the occasion of the Harbury Society's 50th Anniversary Party, Jeremy Atkins, the owner of Harbury Windmill, received the 4th Heritage Medal in recognition of the project to conserve the mill.
Bill Timson, Chair of Harbury Heritage Centre was delighted to receive the Heritage Medal in recognition for the efforts the group has made to protect and promote the heritage of the village.
